SPEED UP WINDOWS XP


1. DISABLE UN-NEEDED STARTUP PROGRAMS
  • Go to Start button, and then click on RUN
  • Type "msconfig", without quotations and press enter.
  • A System Configuration Utility window will appear on the screen.
  • Click the Startup tab.
  • In the Startup tab you will see several boxes and some of them will be checked. uncheck all extra items that are of no use. If you run an antivirus program it is advised to keep it checked.
  • After making your selection press the OK button. You will be prompted to restart your computer to apply the changes
  • After restarting your computer, a dialogue will be displayed. You can check the option for not showing this dialogue every time your PC reboots.
2. OPTIMIZE DISPLAY SETTINGS
  • Go to Start button and Select Control Panel
  • Double-click on the System icon and Click the Advanced tab
  • In the Performance box click Settings.
  • Leave only the following ticked 1) Show shadows under menus 2) Show shadows under mouse pointer 3) Show translucent selection rectangle 4) drop shadows for icons labels on the desktop 5) Use visual styles on windows and buttons
  • Finally, click Apply and press OK.
3. SPEEDUP FILE BROWSING
  • Double-click on My Computer and Click the Tools menu
  • Then Select Folder Options and Click on the View tab.
  • Uncheck the Automatically search for network folders and printers check box.
  • Click Apply and press OK
  • Reboot your computer.
4. REDUCE PAGE FILE SIZE
  • Right-click My Computer And Select Properties
  • Click the Advanced tab. Then Click the Settings button under the Performance section
  • Click the Advanced tab. Under the Virtual Memory section click the Change button
  • "Virtual Memory" dialogue box will appear
  • Highlight the C: drive containing page file
  • Select the Custom Size radio button and give same values in Initial size and Maximum size fields. If you have less than 512MB of memory, leave the page file at its default size. If you have 512MB or more, change the ratio to 1:1 page file size.
  • Click Set, then OK buttons to apply the changes
5. DISABLE FILE INDEXING
  • Click Start button and Select the Control Panel
  • Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  • Click the Add/Remove Window Components icon on the left side of the window
  • Look for the “Indexing Services” component in the list and Uncheck the Indexing Services
  • Click Next and Finish
6. REMOVE SPYWARE, ADWARE AND MALWARE by scanning your computer.

7. CLEAN YOUR SYSTEM REGISTRY using any free softwares available.

BOOT WINDOWS XP FAST

BOOT WINDOWS XP FAST
Open notepad and type "del c:\windows\prefetch\ntosboot-*.* /q" (without quotes) & save as "ntosboot.bat" in c:\
From Start menu, select "Run" & type "gpedit.msc".
Under "Computer Configuration" double click on "Windows Settings" and double click again on "Shutdown" in the right window.
In the new window, click "add", "Browse", locate your "ntosboot.bat" file & click "Open".
Click "OK", "Apply" & "OK" once again to exit.
From the Start menu, select "Run" & type "devmgmt.msc".
Double click on "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"

Right click on "Primary IDE Channel" and select "Properties".
Select the "Advanced Settings" tab and then on the device or one that doesn't have 'device type' greyed out select 'none' instead of 'autodetect' & click "OK".
Right click on "Secondary IDE channel", select "Properties" and repeat above step.

Restart your computer.

The targets which are common are online shopping sites, online banking portals.The most common technique is to urge unsuspecting users to send such sensitive information through emails, clone replication of reputed websites. Such data is then used to withdraw money from your account.
